Peggy Faye Jonas Hallman

Peggy Faye Jonas Hallman, age 82, of Perry Jonas Road in Vale, died Saturday, September 14, 2019.

Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hallman was born on April 11, 1937 and was the daughter of the late Watson Hoke Jonas and Mildred Wise Jonas.  She retired from Lincoln County Schools after teaching 37 years in elementary education.

Mrs. Hallman is survived by one son, Hugh Hallman, III, of the home; one daughter, Pamela Hallman Gantt, and husband Ronnie, of Vale; two grandchildren, Ryan Gantt, and wife Elizabeth, of Vale, and Jordan Gantt of Vale; four great-grandchildren, Asher and Eden Gantt and Kayleigh and Kaeden Steele; two sisters, Judy George of Vale and Sue Goins, and husband, Michael of Statesville; two brothers, Max Jonas, and wife Dayle, of Cherryville, and Terry Jonas of Hickory; numerous nieces and great-nieces and great-nephews.  

Peggy was a loyal and compassionate servant, first to God, her church, her family, her profession, and to her community.  

Peggy has been recognized as the Outstanding Young Educator of North Carolina, Teacher of the Year of Lincoln County, Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, Lincoln County Woman of the Year, Lay Speaker in the United Methodist Church, Western North Carolina Conference Laity Award, Sunday School teacher, member of the church choir, served as President and active member in United Methodist Women, she had a passion to serve her Lord through United Methodist Women, established “Circle of Faith” to minister and help the elderly and those in need in the community, served on the Steering Committee for the Lincolnton Citizens Center, and was President of Business and Professional Women in Lincolnton.

Peggy has now gone home to be with her Heavenly Father.  Her sweet, loving spirit will be cherished and remembered always.
