Mary Hazel Carpenter Wood

Mary Hazel Carpenter Wood, age 90, of Chrysanthemum Lane in Vale, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2019, in the Bethel Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Jim Matthews officiating.
Hazel was born October 5, 1928, in Lincoln County, to the late Perry and Lula Bell Crowder Carpenter. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Houston Wood. She worked in furniture manufacturing for Ethan Allen.
She is survived by two sons, Gerald “Stretch” Carpenter, and daughter-in-law Deana, of Vale, and Rusty Carpenter, and wife Donna, of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Taylor Beard, and wife Hannah, Andrew Gillian, and Jessica Shook; and two great-grandchildren, Addison Beard and Maddison Stewart.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
