Robert Dean Franklin

Robert Dean Franklin, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Beth Brittain officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:15 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Born on October 11, 1930, Bob grew up in Bronte, Texas, and served in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Inez Nutter.
In 1989, he met Peggy Lippard, and they enjoyed over 30 years of love and travel. In 2004, he moved from Pennsylvania to Lincolnton to be near her, and has since made many friends and acquaintances through his daily meetings at the local Hardee’s and McDonald’s.
Bob is survived by his love, Peggy Lippard; Peggy’s sons, Chuck Lippard, and wife Charlene, of Sherrills Ford, and Mark Lippard, and wife Beth, of Denver; and Peggy’s grandsons, Coley Lippard and Braxton Lippard. Relatives from Texas include his sister, Anne Ivy; a brother, William Franklin; nieces, Phyllis Russell, and husband Danny, Melissa Lowe, and Jan Gray; nephews, Roy Ivy, Dennis Ivy, and John Paul Thompson.

He was an avid Texas Longhorn fan, but enjoyed all sports, which led to a long career as a sportswriter at Delaware County Daily Times in Pennsylvania.
