James Edward Smith, Sr.

James Edward Smith, Sr., age 93, of Wilma Sigmon Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Thompson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Eastview Cemetery in Newton.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born May 2, 1926, in Catawba County, to the late Sidney and Pervie Mauney Smith.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Smith; and three sisters, Ruth Hollar, Becky Ratchford, and Gloria Smith.  He served in the United States Navy and then was the owner of Colony House Furniture.

He is survived by a daughter, Ann Beal, and husband Chris, of Lincolnton; a son, James Edward “Eddie” Smith, Jr., and wife Debbie, of Newton; a brother, Sidney Smith of Georgia; two sisters, Margaret Drum of Maiden, and Brenda Greeney of High Point; five grandchildren, Lee  Beal, Beth Alley, Heather Beal, Jeff Smith, and Scott Smith; and seven great-grandchildren, Dylan Smith, Tyler Smith, Ansley Smith, Aaren Smith, McKenzie Smith, Kearsyn Alley, and Kaelyn Alley.
