Wilford Lee Canipe

Wilford Lee Canipe, age 78, of Cat Square Road in Vale, died on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Palm Tree United Methodist Church with Rev. Freida Hobson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The body will lie in state for forty-five minutes prior to the service.  Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Warlick Funeral Home.  

Mr. Canipe was born November 23, 1940, in Catawba County, to the late Horace and Edith Carpenter Canipe.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dean Canipe; and a sister, Catherine Isenhour.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning, Mr. Canipe was one of the founders of the Propst VFD and the Cooksville VFD, and then later worked as a truck driver and retired farmer.  

He is survived by his wife, Linda Shull Canipe of the home; a daughter, Karen C. Chapman, and Billy; a brother, James Canipe, and wife Pam, of Lincolnton; three sisters, Lela Childers of Lincolnton, and Daphine Swain and Ann Hastings, both of Statesville; and one grandson, Gerald Tyler Lee Helms.
