Gilda Elmore Saine
( December 12, 1933 - April 3, 2019 )
Gilda Elmore Saine, age 85, of Highway 182 in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.
Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Bethphage Lutheran Church with Pastor Fred Mitschke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Saine was born December 12, 1933, in Lincoln County, to the late Miles C. and Hilda Yoder Elmore. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Gene Leonard Saine; two daughters, Dixie Lee Saine and Anne Yvonne Saine; and a sister, Jane Elmore. She was a Worthy Maiden of the Eastern Star, a DAR member, N.C. State Champion – single and doubles ping pong in 1952, a member of the Daughters of Confederate Soldiers, and at the age of 11 she was a member of the Lincolnton Civil Defense during World War II.
She is survived by her son Wade Saine and wife, Lydia of Iron Station; two grandchildren, Russell L. Saine, and wife Charlotte, of Cary, and Marsha Anne Saine of Iron Station.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
