Mary Louise Lohr
( December 14, 1930 - February 27, 2019 )
Mary Louise Lohr, a resident of Kingston Assisted Living passed away peacefully at Trinity Village in Hickory, NC on February 27, 2019 at the age of 88.  Born December 14, 1930 in Lincolnton, NC to George E. Lohr and Gladys Lackey Lohr, Mary was a graduate of Lincolnton High School. She received a BA in Elementary Education from Lenoir-Rhyne College and a Masters in Guidance from Appalachian State University. After teaching elementary school in Gastonia and Charlotte, Mary moved to Florida to teach in the West Palm Beach school system where she retired. Mary loved art, music, and travel. One of her travels included attending a meeting of the American Orchid Society in Australia. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her brothers George Edmund Lohr, Jr. of Charleston, SC and David L. Lohr of Hickory. She is survived by her sister Jane Golden of Asheville, NC, sisters-in-law Betty P. Lohr of Hickory, NC and Faye Lohr of Charleston, SC; three nephews, Rev. Dr. J.B. Golden, Jr. (Patrice) of Lake Junaluska, NC, Rev. Dr. Jonathan Lohr Golden, of Hickory, NC and Gary Lohr (Dawn) of Charleston, SC; four nieces, Anne Golden of Asheville, NC, Cynthia Lohr Kelly (Steve) of Claremont, NC, Jennifer Lohr Gross (Josh) of Falls Church, VA, and Rev. Dr. Christy Lohr Sapp (Paul) of Hickory, NC; along with eight grand-nieces and nephews. A service will be held Sunday, March 3 at 3:00 PM at Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton, NC with a committal to follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Christy Lohr Sapp will preside. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to UMAR at Givens Estate, 650 Barrett Lane, Asheville, NC  28803.
