Obituaries

Robert Vernon “Bob” Hecht, age 68, of Pine Lake Road in Denver, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Unity Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Bonnema officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019, at Unity Presbyterian Church. 

Bob was born December 7, 1950, in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late John Wallace Hecht and Gladys Louise Houston Hecht.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Hecht Stone.   Bob graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and, in 1972, became the owner of Hecht Realty in Denver.  He was a Charter Member of the Denver Lake Norman Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow plus three.  Another of Bob’s accomplishments was that he was the founding member of the Lincoln County Board of Realtors.    

He is survived by his wife, Linda Mackie Hecht of the home; a son, Andrew Hecht, and wife Whitney, of Huntersville; a daughter, Nicole Howard, and husband Blake, of Denver; and two grandchildren, Everly Hecht and Eli Howard.
