Shelly Falls Rash
( June 8, 1968 - December 16, 2018 )
Shelly Falls Rash, 50, passed away on December 16, 2018 at her home in Maiden, NC. Shelly referred to her home as her “Hill” where she found peace in the woods with her dogs, cats, chickens, a pet pig and her horse Jasper. She loved nature and all animals.

Shelly was born in Gaston County on June 8, 1968. She grew up in Cramerton, NC and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. At the age of 8 she received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.  Shelly graduated from South Point High School, earned a CNA license and worked for a while at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She worked with elderly patients, children and those in need because each had a special place in her heart.

After the birth of their son Johnny, the family moved to Denver, NC. She was a devoted full-time mother and always a part of Johnny’s childhood activities. Johnny was called her fingerprint because they were so much alike and had a special bond. Shelly volunteered at Rock Spring Elementary School, was the assistant leader in Johnny’s Boy Scout Troop and assisted with his T- Ball and soccer teams. Shelly and her husband Mark volunteered at East Lincoln Christian Ministries working at the food pantry, collecting and distributing food to those in need.

More recently Shelly could be seen at Rock Springs Elementary School on Mondays having lunch with her grandsons, Hayden and Bentley Rash. Shelly and Mark loved them very much. They spent time outside on the “Hill” building a fort, riding their golf cart, caring for the animals and just having fun. On rainy days they would do art and crafts, read books, watch videos and just make memories that will last in their hearts forever. It was important to Shelly that Hayden and Bentley know the love of Jesus and the joy of serving Him. They attended Mountain View Baptist Church in Maiden, NC and were dedicated to that church family.
Shelly was a devoted and helpful daughter to her mom, Jean. Each fall for over 10 years, they would take a trip to the Cove in Ashville, NC along with Dusty Hoyle, Lilian Hambrick, sister Lori, Aunt Joy and other friends. In the peace of the mountains, they would study God’s word, eat too much, walk the trails, visit the chapel and enjoy being with friends.

Through all this, Shelly’s high school sweetheart and husband for over 30 years, stood by her side, loving, supporting, cooking most of the meals and caring for Shelly. They were each other’s shadow and soul mate. Her siblings, Lori, Todd and Corky were a tight group. If you hurt one, the others were ready to fight. They kept secrets from their parents to keep the others out of trouble. Their love for each other was apparent to everyone as was their love for their Mom and Dad.
Shelly was preceded in Death by her father; Wylie P. “Butch” Falls Jr. Shelly is survived by her husband Mark Rash, son Johnny Rash and wife Crissy, grandsons Hayden and Bentley Rash and their mother Lisa Rash, her mother, Jean Falls, sister Lori Welling and husband Paul, brother Todd Falls and wife Pam, brother Corky Falls and wife Tabatha, Aunt Joy Lancaster and husband Bob, Aunt Barbara Bowen, sister-in-law Diane Rayfield and husband James, brother-in-law Mike and wife Sue. Also many other nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Riverside Baptist Church in Cramerton, NC. Visitation is at 2:00 PM and the service will follow at 3:00 PM. The family wishes to extend our thanks to our friends, family and church families who are holding us up in prayer during this time. We are praising Jesus Christ for the promise that after a while we will be together again for eternity if we believe and trust in Him.
