Mary Blackburn Queen Honeycutt
( October 24, 1919 - November 18, 2018 )
Mary Blackburn Queen Honeycutt, age 99, passed away peacefully at Brian Center in Lincolnton on November 18, 2018.

Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Lincolnton with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mary was born October 24, 1919, to the late Fred and Maggie Blackburn.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Queen; her second husband, Harold Honeycutt; her sisters, Ethel and Nell; her brothers, Gwyn and Arthur; and her step-daughter, Phyllis Reinhardt.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Laney in Peak Resources, Gastonia; one grandson, Buddy Laney of Texas; Buddy’s ex-wife, Jennifer McSwain of Cherryville, who remained very devoted to Mary; one great-granddaughter, Sydney; one step-daughter, Dianne Buff of Lawndale; niece, Becky Luther of Monroe; great-niece, Celeste Harrill; and several other nieces and nephews.

Mary was a strong Christian, always ready to tell you that her father and brothers, Arthur and Gwyn, were ordained Baptist preachers.  She was a very active and faithful member of River View Baptist Church in her earlier years, and then later First Baptist Church.  She loved being a part of the TopAgers at her church and especially loved going with them to Caswell.  Even in her many years at Brian Center, and up until her last days she blessed many with her favorite hymns.

A very special thank you to the Brian Center staff and Lincoln County Hospice nurses for their compassion and loving care of Mrs. Mary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Lincoln County Hospice, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC  28092, or to First Baptist Church, 201 Robin Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
