Stephen Lynch Cornwell, age 72 of Petes Road in Lincolnton died Sunday, November 11, 2018.

Steve was born September 30, 1946 in Lincoln County. He was the son of the late Allen Cornwell and Ruth Lynch Cornwell. He was also preceded in death by a brother Larry Cornwell. Mr. Cornwell was a claims investigator at Carolina Freight. He later retired from American Tire where he worked in maintenance.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at River View Baptist Church. Rev. Ricky Brown will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will be private at River View Baptist Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Ewing Cornwell of their home; daughter, Stephanie Hughes and husband Jonathan of Lincolnton; granddaughter, Nora Hughes; nieces, Kelley Cornwell and daughter Imani of Atlanta, Whitney Chapman and husband Duff and their children Wyatt and Stella of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Rene Picard and husband Joe of Raleigh.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to River View Baptist Church, 2230 Riverview Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
