Joy Lynn Hanks Tyson
( October 15, 1974 - August 17, 2018 )
Joy Lynn Hanks Tyson, age 43, of Lincolnton, NC passed away on Friday August 17, 2018 after a heroic fight with cancer.
Joy was born on October 15, 1974 in Battle Creek, MI. She graduated Battle Creek Central High School in 1993 and received her Bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1997. Joy and her husband Monte were married on May 14, 1999 and celebrated their nineteenth wedding anniversary this year. Together, Monte and Joy have three children, Hannah, William and Jonathon.
She received her Master’s degree in Library Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2017 and has worked as a Librarian and Media Coordinator in the Lincoln County School District since 2012.
Joy spent her life in service to God, her family and the children she taught and loved. She will be remembered for her contagious smile and the sweet influence she had on every life she touched.
She is survived by her husband, Monte Tyson; three children, Hannah, William and Jonathon Tyson; her parents, John and Valerie Hanks of White House, TN; two brothers, Jeffrey Hanks and wife, Pam of Marshall, MI and Jason Hanks and wife Valery of White House, TN; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
A memorial service for Joy will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Warlick Funeral Home chapel. A reception is planned immediately following the service. All are welcome.
