Larry Bennett Edwards
( March 23, 1937 - August 6, 2018 )
Larry Bennett Edwards, age 81, of Sweet Clover Way in Denver, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 6, 2018.

Larry was born March 23, 1937, in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, to the late Maurice and Pauline Roberts Edwards.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Edwards.

Larry Edwards carried the solid values of his mountain roots into many aspects of his life.  He served his country in the United States Army stationed in Germany.  Larry then began a career as a pipeline welder working all over the United States including Alaska.  After 38 years of welding, he became an accomplished cattleman on a farm in Statesville.

Larry’s family and friends will remember him as someone who had a passion for life and could always be relied upon for an honest word and unfailing support.  His family was the light of his life.  He had a loving heart and was a father figure to many.

Larry Edwards lived life to the fullest.  If there wasn’t a fishing rod in his hands, it was the reins of a horse, the handlebars of a motorcycle, the stock of a hunting rifle or the steering wheel of a tractor.  Larry traveled the country with his trusty navigator Judy by his side.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Judy Edwards of the home; a son, Bradley Edwards and wife Jodi, of Iron Station; a daughter, Robin Edwards Riddle and husband Rick, of Denver; two brothers, Joe Edwards of Cleveland, GA and Lynn Edwards of Tellico Plains, TN; four sisters, Gladys E. Hodge of Madisonville, TN, Charlotte E. Avery of Cleveland, GA, and Shirley E. Dalton and Mae E. Bunch, both of Tellico Plains, TN; and four grandchildren, Logan Riddle, Dylan Riddle and wife Katelyn, Trey Edwards, and Caitlyn Edwards.

His celebration of life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 14514 Lucia Riverbend Hwy, Mt. Holly, with Rev. Charles Barrier officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. prior to the service at New Covenant.  Burial will follow in the Castanea Community Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Castanea Community Church, 14815 Lucia Riverbend Highway, Stanley, NC 28164, or to Hospice.
