Valarie Woodard Gates

Valarie Woodard Gates, age 76, of Pressley Drive in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, May 10, 2018.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Andy Royals, Rev. Marcus Redding, and Rev. Ted Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.
Mrs. Gates was born August 11, 1941, in Swain County, to the late Leslie Woodard and Eula Barker Frye. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Loftis, and her first husband, O.D. Dellinger. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her church and loved her Lord.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Sid Gates of the home; children, Donna Sherrill (Rodger) and Junior Gates (Angie), all of Lincolnton, Gerald Dellinger of Vale, Lynn Brewer (Marty) of Lincolnton, John Dellinger of Alexandria, VA, and Denise Long (Kenny) of Lincolnton; three brothers, Jerry Loftis of St. George, SC, Randy Loftis (Darlene) of Troutman, and Danny Loftis (Michelle) of Townsend, GA; a sister, Janice White (Joel) of Casar; ten grandchildren, Angela Simcox (Matt), Brandy Gates, Sarah Gates (Dee), Clayton Dellinger, Rebekah Dellinger, Matthew Brewer (Annesa) Nicholas Brewer (Allison), Kelsey Payseur (Daniel), Alex Branch, and Evan Long; and five great-grandchildren, Helynn Simcox, Raygan Phillips, Kolton Phillips, Maddie Brewer, and Asa Payseur.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1982 Salem Church Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
