James Lex Ramseur
( February 19, 1933 - April 13, 2018 )

James Lex Ramseur, age 88, of Startown Road, Lincolnton was called to his eternal home on Friday, April 13, 2018.

His funeral will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2018 in the Marvin United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

Jim was born on February 19, 1933 and was a lifelong resident of Lincolnton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshal Stewart Ramseur, Sr. and Eleanor Cotton Ramseur as well a brother, Roger Ramseur. Jim served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Austria. He retired as a tool and die supervisor at Amp, Inc. in Gaston County. He was an avid gardener who loved working in the yard with his nut trees, muscadines, fig bushes and cutting firewood. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren fishing, camping, doing outdoor activities and playing board or card games.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Eleanor Whitener Ramseur of the home; two daughters, Julianna Chapman and husband, Neal of Lincolnton and Robin Garner and husband Rick of Lincolnton; two brothers, Bob Ramseur of Lincolnton and John Ramseur of Littleton, Colorado; five grandchildren, John Garner, Callie Garner Hussey and husband, Eric, Thomas Chapman, Alaina Chapman and Leah Chapman; one great-grandson, Xander Garner.
