Sara Bertha Peeler Sipe
( August 26, 1936 - March 7, 2018 )
Sara Bertha Peeler Sipe, age 81, of 772 Sipe Road in Lincolnton, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, March 7, 2018.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with Pastor Rosa Erickson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.

Mrs. Sipe was born August 26, 1936, in Lincoln County, to the late George and Emma White Peeler.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Lee Sipe, and siblings Muriel Peeler, Weldon (Tojo) Peeler, and Sybil Fredell.  She worked in textiles. After retirement, she cleaned houses for the public and took care of her family, who were everything to her, and was dedicated to her church.

She is survived by a son, Michael Edward Sipe, and Katherine Wolbers, of Lincolnton; a daughter, Gayle Yount, and husband Jimmy, of Lincolnton; a brother, George “Bud” Peeler of Lincolnton; four sisters, Frankie Goins, and husband Jim; Edna Grant, and husband Raymond “Buck”; and Jean Hudson, all of Lincolnton, and Barbara Armstrong of Forest City; four grandchildren, Wesley Shane Reel, and wife Wendy; Emily Reel Jones, and husband Jeff; Michael Stephen Sipe, and wife Dana; and Edward Lee Sipe, and wife Aleshia; four great-grandchildren, Kaley Marie Reel, Shelby Paige Reel, Madison Nicole Sipe, and Dylan Duncan; special niece, Jamie Goins; and special cousin and caregiver, Nancy McNeely.  

The family would like to express special thanks to all of her wonderful and loving caregivers at Carolina Care in Cherryville, Carolinas HealthCare System Lincoln, and Hospice of Lincoln County.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 315 N. Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC  28092, or to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC  28092.
