Charles Richard Henley
( April 28, 1934 - March 5, 2018 )
Charles Richard Henley, 83 of Iron Station, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 5, 2018.

His funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Pearl Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Hugh Whitfield officiating.  Burial will follow in the Iron Station Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service.

Richard was born April 28, 1934, to the late Marvin Richard and Hazeline Bradshaw Henley of Iron Station.  He attended Rock Springs School.  At age 20, he married the love of his life, Eleanor Bradshaw Henley, whom he shared over 61 years together until her death in January 2017.  

He retired from Carolina Mills in Maiden.

Richard was an active member of Pearl Baptist Church.  He showed Christ in his life through his kind and gentle nature and his willingness to help others.  Those who love him will forever miss this special man, but rejoice in knowing he is in Heaven and reunited with his beloved wife.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Henley Ballard and a brother, Donald Lee Henley.

He is survived by two sons, Mike Henley of Iron Station and Rick Henley, and wife Kim, of Crouse; four grandchildren, April Henley of St. Petersburg, Florida, Dustin Henley, and wife Jody, Laurin Mellon, and husband Isaiah, and Jason Jenks, and wife Amanda, all of Lincolnton; three great-grandchildren, Cooper Henley, Beckham Jenks and Gentry Jenks; and two brothers, David Henley and Johnny Henley, and wife Frances, all of Lincolnton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Pearl Baptist Church, 4641 E. Highway 27, Iron Station, NC  28080.
