Rev. Bill Haire

Rev. “Preacher” Bill Haire, formerly of Lincolnton, NC, died peacefully in Nashville, TN, surrounded by his family as a result of a massive stroke January 19, 2018, at the age of 89.

On Saturday, January 27, 2018, a 1:00 p.m. visitation and 2:00 p.m. Service of Celebration will be held at First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Main Street, Lincolnton NC.  Burial will follow at 4:15 p.m. at Eternal Hills, 1565 Oakland Road, Forest City, NC  28043.

He was proud that he was able to live independently up until the time of his death.  “Preacher” Bill was a graduate of Wofford College, Pfeiffer University and Duke Divinity School and he served churches in North Carolina in Morganton, Caroleen, Guilford College, Asheville, Charlotte, Shelby, Lincolnton, Mt. Airy, and Winston-Salem.  After retirement, he returned to First United Methodist Church, Lincolnton, as a regular Sunday School teacher, Prayer Group regular, and leader.  Upon moving to Nashville, he attended Belmont United Methodist Church.  Preceding him in death was his loving wife, Nell, of 50 years; his parents, Clarence and Vernnie Haire; and two brothers, Donald and Leonard.

“Pop” to his family, he is survived by Bill Haire of Nashville, TN; Randy and Gigi Haire of Atlanta, GA; Sarah and Matthew Tobin of Greenville, SC, Megan Haire of Nashville, TN; and close family friend, Scott Shields of Nashville, TN.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to First United Methodist Church, 201 E Main Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092, children and youth programs.
