Dennis Ray Smith
( February 28, 1951 - January 19, 2018 )
Dennis Ray Smith, age 66, of Hannah Trail in Lincolnton, died on Friday, January 19, 2018, due to a long battle with cancer.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2018, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Goins officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was born on February 28, 1951, to Marvin and Lena Smith. Both parents have passed on. Mr. Smith served in the Marine Corps from 1969 to 1971. He served in Vietnam in 1970. He was a dedicated Veteran and loved his fellow brothers in the VNVLVMC.
Mr. Smith is survived by his son, Tommy Smith, and wife Jennifer; daughter, Dee Dee Smith Hovis; son, Tony Smith, and wife Crystal; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; wife, Cindy Smith; lifelong friend, Mike Owensby, who was with him until he passed; two brothers, Darrell Smith, and wife Joyce, and Eddie Smith, and wife Tonya; and a sister, Marie Reep.
Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his brother, Gene Smith, and sisters Ann Finger and Jane Smith. He recently lost his beloved dog, Buster, and now leaves his little baby Sassy May. He loved his family, his brotherhood, and lived life to the fullest. He will be missed so much… Fly high “POPZ.”
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Freedom Biker Church of Hickory, 1385 33rd Street, S.E., Conover, NC 28613.
