Leoah Moore Mitchem
( October 19, 1913 - January 14, 2018 )
Leoah Moore Mitchem, age 104, of the Brian Center, and formerly of Taswell Lane in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, January 14, 2018.

Her funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Warlick Funeral Home.  

Mrs. Mitchem was born October 19, 1913, in Macon, Georgia, to the late William and Bertha Eller Moore.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Mitchem; one brother; three sisters; and a granddaughter.  She worked in textiles for N.C. Spinning.  Leoah was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church where she played the piano, taught Sunday School; served as church treasurer, was the director of Vacation Bible School, as well as the Christmas programs and ladies auxiliary.  She was also an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.  

She is survived by a daughter, Daphyne Armstrong of Lincolnton; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; her companion dog, “Buddy”'; a sister-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105-9959.
