John Robert Peeler
( February 15, 1928 - September 29, 2017 )
John Robert Peeler, age 89, of Lincolnton, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017, at Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center.

His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Peeler officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Peeler was born February 15, 1928, in Lincoln County, to the late Richard and Zola Carter Peeler.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Avery Peeler.  John retired from SCT Yarn in Cherryville.  He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.  He loved the simple things in life and music.  In his younger years, he sang with “The Pal Boys”, which made a few records and was on WLON radio on Sunday afternoons.  

He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia P. Morrison of Lincolnton; three brothers, Jerry Peeler, Ronnie Peeler, and Earl Peeler, all of Lincolnton; a sister, Clara P. Abernathy of Cherryville; a granddaughter, Casey Powell of Vale; and two great-grandchildren, Cayden Powell and Bryson Powell, both of Vale.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, PO Box 43, Crouse, NC  28033, or to Christian Ministry of Lincoln County, PO Box 423, Lincolnton, NC  28093.
