Elijah James Tyson
( August 20, 1925 - August 14, 2017 )
Elijah James Tyson, age 91, of Hunton Lane in Huntersville, died on Monday, August 14, 2017.

His funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Denver United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Autrey officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.  Burial will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday in Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe.

Mr. Tyson was born August 20, 1925, in Union County, to the late William David Tyson and Stella Carnes Tyson.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and later attended NC State University on the GI Bill, graduating with a BS in Agricultural Engineering.  Mr. Tyson retired from Duke Power where he was manager of the Agricultural Engineering department.  

He is survived by his wife, Emogene Laney Tyson of the home; one son, James David Tyson, and wife June, of Mooresville; two daughters, Janet T. Hutchison, and husband Mike, of Weddington, NC, and Beth Ann T. Packard, and husband Arthur, of Cornelius; one brother, Ted Tyson, and wife Anne, of Stuart, FL; and four grandchildren, Eli James Tyson of Huntersville, Emmalyn Victoria Tyson of Raleigh, Carley Noelle Packard of Charleston, SC, and Olivia Holland Packard of Cornelius.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Denver United Methodist Church, PO Box 661, Denver, NC  28037, or to Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care, 324 N. McDowell Street, Charlotte, NC  28204.
