Joseph Johnson "Joe" Miller
( June 29, 1946 - April 5, 2017 )
Joseph Johnson “Joe” Miller, age 70, went to be with his heavenly Father Wednesday, April 5, 2017.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Lynn and Rev. Billy Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. At other times, the family will be at Mr. Miller’s home.
He was born June 29, 1946, in Conway, South Carolina, son of the late Donald and Clara Mae Long Miller. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Ronald Miller and Bill Miller, and two sisters, Betty Alford and Doris Miller Carroll. Joseph worked at AVX Corporation in Myrtle Beach, SC for 43 years. He was a chief of Horry County Rescue Squad for 15 years. He was a volunteer fireman for the Conway Fire Department. He was active in New Hope Baptist Church.
Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Virginia (Jenny) Shronce Miller of Iron Station; two children, Ryan Miller (Marie) and Courtney Miller Rogers (Hank); bonus children, Jake Rhodes (Natalie), Ashley Rhodes, Jenna Howard (Joshua); grandchildren, Jason, Chevy, Michaela, Bailey, River Miller and McCoy Rogers, Emery and Weston Howard; great-grandchild, Arizona Miller; in addition to several nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law, and other family, friends and church family who will miss him.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Children’s Ministry at New Hope Baptist Church, 532 N. Little Egypt Road, Denver, NC 28037.
