Oscar Medlin, Jr.
( March 13, 1929 - April 5, 2017 )
Oscar Medlin, Jr. age 88 of Timberlane Drive in Lincolnton, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in his home surrounded by his wife, Glenda of 62 years, son Mark Medlin of Raleigh, his daughter Beth Medlin Mangano and husband Dr. Charles Mangano, also of Raleigh.

The service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, April 7th, 2017 at 2:00 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Wyant officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 - 1:45 prior to the service at the church.

Junior was born March 13, 1929 in Gaston County, NC. He was the only child of Oscar and Alva Grayson Medlin, who preceded him in death. He was a loving "papaw" to Catherine, Caroline and Charlotte Medlin and Peter and Katie Mangano. His is survived by a cousin Annis Black of Hickory, NC.

He attended Lincolnton High School where he excelled at football and baseball. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean conflict.
He was a volunteer fireman in the city of Lincolnton for 17 years. He was a Lincmeal driver for many years and a member of First United Methodist church, the Local VFW, and Lincoln Country Club where he played weekly with his group of dear friends. He loved antique cars and loved spending time in his garage restoring his '47 Chevy convertible.

He was an avid Lincolnton Wolf Pack fan and always enjoyed the Friday Night Lights. He retired from Carolina Freight Carriers in Cherryville after 26 years of a perfect driving record.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family and devoted cat.
