Shirley Polhill Rudisill Connor
( September 30, 1940 - April 3, 2017 )
Shirley Polhill Rudisill Connor, age 76, of River Meadows Court in Lincolnton, died on Monday, April 3, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017, at First Wesleyan Church with Rev. Tommy Wright and Rev. Clint Darst officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.  At other times the family will be at the home of Debbie and Tim Pope. 

Mrs. Connor was born September 30, 1940, in Lincoln County, to the late Joseph Augustus Polhill, Sr., and Martha Lambeth Polhill.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Augustus Polhill, Jr. and John Hamilton “Jackie” Polhill.  She retired as a United States Postal Service rural carrier. 

Shirley spent many years volunteering her time and serving others in many capacities.  She spent many hours as a grade parent for her four children while in school.  She spent many years with Girl Scouts with her daughters as a leader and assistant.  She also spent several years as band booster for the Lincolnton High School Band. 

In her later years, she enjoyed doing mission work, through her church, with Hephzibah Children’s Home and work on a church building in Jamaica and South Mountain Retreat Center.  She was always willing to open her heart and home to those in need.  She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Allen F. Connor of the home; her children, Joel Rudisill of Denver, Jan R. Bartlett, and husband Tommy, of Waxhaw, NC, Debbie R. Pope, and husband Tim, and Eddie “Rudy” Rudisill, and wife Chrissie, all of Lincolnton; stepchildren, Phillip Connor and Michelle Connor Huster, both of Lincolnton; and beloved grandmother of, Leah Michelle Bartlett, Matthew Dean Bartlett, and wife Rebecca, Daniel Wesley Pope, Faith Lynne Huster, Isaac Charles Huster, and Chaley Lynette Connor; and her special four-legged fur baby, Lulu.
