David Ray Cantrell
( May 20, 1947 - March 29, 2017 )
Mr. David Ray Cantrell, age 69, of Little Valley Lane in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2017, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Davis officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

David was born May 20, 1947, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Edgar A. and Nell Ballard Cantrell.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers, Bob, Phillip, Richard, and Bill Cantrell.  He served proudly in the United States Marine Corp and was a double Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient for serving in Vietnam.  He then later worked as a fabricator.  

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Helms Cantrell of the home; a son, Jeff Cantrell, and wife Bobbi, of Iron Station; a brother, Jim Cantrell, and wife Sharon, of Stanley; two sisters, Sarah Cloninger, and husband Keith, of Dallas, and Diane Lunsford of Shelby; one granddaughter, Ceana Cantrell; mother-in-law, Helen Helms of Lincolnton; Ron and Janice Helms of Maiden, Delana and Steve Clark of Gastonia, Jim and Debbie Helms of Lincolnton, David and Sandra Helms of Lincolnton, LaDonna and Mike Lawing of Belmont, Trina Parker of Lincolnton, Leah and Holland Peters of Charleston, SC, and Gena and Scott Wright of Iron Station; and a number of nieces and nephews.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Real Life Church, 15434 Lucia-Riverbend Highway, Stanley, NC  28164.
