Ernest Fred Wilson
( February 3, 1923 - January 22, 2017 )
Ernest Fred Wilson, age 93, of Anderson Mountain Road in Maiden, died on Sunday, January 22, 2017.

His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Rhyne Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. Avery White officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.  

Ernest was born February 3, 1923, in Wayland, New York, to the late Howard C. Wilson and Edna Dunham Wilson.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Laura Young Wilson, and siblings Mildred, Leona, Esther, and Dorothy.  Ernest first and foremost loved serving his Lord and Savior.  He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and then for 60 years worked as a piano technician.  Ernest married the love of his life, Laura Wilson, and they were married for 51 years building a family and life together, displaying love through the tough times and great times.  He is now reunited with her.  For 74 years, he used his talent and passion playing the organ at many churches.  In his latter years, he had the privilege to serve as the organist at Rhyne Heights United Methodist Church, where he grew to love and adore the people there.

He is survived by a daughter, Norma W. Cooley, and husband Robert, of Easley, SC; two sons, Carl Wilson, and wife Frances, of Liberty, SC, and Paul Wilson, and wife Andrea, of Maiden; two brothers, Howard Wilson of Florida, and Raymond Wilson of Lexington, NC; one sister, Olive W. Kline of Erin, NY; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rhyne Heights United Methodist Church, 520 S. Madison Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
