Edgar Enloe Rutledge
( October 8, 1922 - January 14, 2017 )
Mr. Edgar Enloe Rutledge, age 94, of 7105 Beargrass Road in Sherrills Ford, died on Saturday, January 14, 2017.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Curtis officiating. His body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Rutledge was born October 8, 1922, in Catawba County, to the late Augustus (Gus) and Cora Sullivan Rutledge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Dot) Reel Rutledge, and an infant son. Mr. Rutledge was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Navy. He was a retired Postmaster, having served the Crouse Post Office for 30 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Morrow and husband Don of Raleigh, Rev. Amy Vaughan and husband Walter of Sherrills Ford; sister-in-law, Ruth Rutledge of Cherryville; grandchildren, Joshua Mauney and wife Lindy, Andrew Stieneke and fiance’ Cari Corbett, Walter B. Vaughan, Gideon Vaughan and wife Bekah.
