Clayton "Worth" Austin

Clayton “Worth” Austin, age 92, of the Wexford House, and formerly of Ivy Run Drive in Denver, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017, in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 7284 Campground Road in Denver, with Rev. Tony Matthews officiating.  The family will receive friends in the fellowship building of Bethel United Methodist Church following the service.

Mr. Austin was born October 22, 1924, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Fitzhugh Lee Austin, Sr. and Lillian Mae Benton Austin.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Crump Austin, and brothers F.L. Austin, Jr. and Benton L. Austin.  He worked as a bookkeeper for Rosson & Richards Company.

He is survived by a son, Clayton Worth Austin, Jr., and wife Patricia, of Denver; two daughters, Cynthia Austin Cook, and husband Randy, of Mt. Holly, and Deborah Austin Bolch, and husband Mike, of Denver; two brothers, Thomas G. Austin of Greenville, SC and Johnny C. Austin of Charlotte; one sister, Brenda Rose Austin of Blacksburg, VA; five grandchildren, Shannon Cook Hartman, and husband Patrick, Patrick A. Cook, and wife Amy, Kathleen A. Cook, Ryan D. Cook, and wife Amber, and Scott A. Bolch; and six great-grandchildren, Austin Cook, Cameron Cook, Brady Cook, Drew Cook, Brennan Hartman, and Gavin Hartman.
