Mary Corinne Miles Cloud
( October 5, 1920 - August 21, 2016 )
Mary Corinne Miles Cloud, age 95 of 109 Wood Hollow Court in Mount Holly, NC, formerly of 8404 Normandy Road, Denver, NC, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Unity Presbyterian Church in Denver, NC, with Reverend Walt Windley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cloud was born October 5, 1920 in Ferndale, AR, to the late Jesse Brown Miles, Jr. and Roberta Elnora Koon Miles. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Edward Cloud, Jr.; a son, LeRoy Edward Cloud, III; two brothers, Carl Miles and Roy Miles, and a sister, Margaret Miles Lester, all of Ferndale, AR.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Cloud Sherrill of Mount Holly; five grandchildren: John Howard Sherrill, and partner Evgenii Menshikov, of Mount Holly, Robert Miles Sherrill, and fiancée Marie Worley, of Mount Holly, Rhonda Lane Sherrill of Lincolnton, Jay Franklin Sherrill, and wife Linda, of Rockwell, NC, Melinda Stacy Sherrill Kaiser of Lincolnton, NC; 9 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mavis Miles Dobbyn, of Fayetteville, AR; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A devoted wife and mother, she married July 13, 1940 and moved to Santa Monica, California, where her husband, LeRoy, was employed at Douglas Aircraft. They later transferred to Charlotte, NC and Titusville, FL, where LeRoy worked on the Space program before they retired to Denver, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
Special thanks to all of the family and friends who surrounded Mary with prayers, love and support. Also, deep appreciation is extended to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care Lincoln County.
