Gary Lee Ray, Sr.
( February 22, 1939 - July 19, 2016 )
Mr. Gary Lee Ray, Sr., age 77, of the Brian Center, and formerly of Lineberger Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2016.

His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2016, at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Philbeck  and Rev. Dr. Andy Royals officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Gary was born February 22, 1939, in Gaston County, to the late Cager Lingo and Mary Dalton Ray.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Faye Kale Ray, and a son Gary L. Ray, Jr.  He was a self-employed upholsterer, and also sang country music in Nashville for over 30 years.  During that time he had six Top 100 cash box chart records, and was nominated for a Grammy and male independent video of the year.  

He is survived by two sons, J.C. Ray and Chris Ray, both of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Cager Ray, and wife Kristen, of Lincolnton, Cassi Lynn Burgess, and wife Angel, of Denver; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Ray, Reid, Soren, and Lola Kay Burgess; and one brother, Tommy Ray, and wife Carol, of Lincolnton.
