Emma Marie Payseur Smith

Emma Marie Payseur Smith, age 95, of 2865 Gastonia Highway in Lincolnton, died on Friday, July 15, 2016.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2016, in the Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Jon Mann officiating. The family will greet friends graveside following the service.
Mrs. Smith was born September 19, 1920, in Gaston County, to the late Lawrence and Mary Hoffman Payseur. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Carl W. Smith, two brothers and two sisters, Herman Payseur, Cleo Chapman, Dorothy Richards, and L.E. Payseur. She worked in textiles, retiring from Mohican Mills. Mrs. Smith was a lifelong member of Long Shoals Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by two sons, Milton Smith, and wife Patty, of Dallas, and Ronald Smith of Lincolnton; daughter-in-law Karen Smith of Lincolnton; one sister, Lavon Keener, and husband Milton, of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Dr. Matthew Smith, and wife Charity, of Cary, NC, Adrienne Borders, and husband Will, of Gastonia, Adam Smith, and wife Casey, of Raleigh, Derek Smith, and wife Cynthia, of Crouse, and Brooke Smith of Lincolnton; three great-grandchildren, Bryson Smith, Willow Borders, and Harper Borders; and special caregiver, Barbara McAllister.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Catawba Regional Hospice for the care they provided to Marie.
