Fred Lee Hoffman
( May 28, 1926 - June 22, 2016 )
Fred Lee Hoffman, life-long resident of Long Shoals, passed away suddenly June 22, 2016, at the age of 90. He was an avid third generation farmer who loved sharing the bounty of his harvest with many. Fred was a WWII veteran. He started working at the age of 16 as a sweeper at Glen Mills and retired as plant manager from Carolina Mills Plant #5 and #6 with over 40 years of service.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Pisgah United Methodist Church, Lincolnton, NC, followed by an 11:00 a.m. service and burial at Pisgah United Methodist Church.

Fred is survived by his sister Helen H. Perkins, and sister- in- law Helen R. Hoffman and cousin Terry Hoffman of Lincolnton; nephews, Thomas R. Cloninger and Alan G. Cloninger; nieces, Jade C. Allender and Paula C. Houser; as well as numerous great-nephews, nieces, and a great-great nephew and niece.  

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen C. Hoffman of 69 years; his parents, Russell “Russ” McKinley Hoffman and Beatrice “Bea” Hudspeth Hoffman, his brother James B. Hoffman, and brother-in-law  Junior “Perk” Perkins all from Long Shoals.

The family would like to thank the Lincoln County EMS and Lincolnton Fire Department for their quick response and high level of professionalism, and special friends Jake and Jeannie Rhyne for all the love and support they have shown Fred and Helen over the past 20 years.
