Dorothy Ellis

Dorothy “Dot” Gladys Wyant Ellis, age 87, of 1689 Lynn Mountain Road in Vale, died on Monday, March 21, 2016.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Tommy Lineberger officiating. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ellis was born August 12, 1928, in Catawba County, to the late Arney and Edith Goodnight Wyant. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Billy Ellis, a son Gary Ellis, a sister Kate Wyant Peeler, and two brothers Farris Wyant and Burnis Wyant. She graduated from Banoak School where she was the Salutatorian of her class. She then later worked for Drexel Heritage Furniture.
She is survived by four sons, Robert Ellis, John Allen Ellis (Beverly), Billy Ellis (Desiree), Ricky Ellis (Mary “Sherry”), all of Vale; one daughter, Teresa Ellis Starkey (David) of Vale; five brothers, Arney Wyant (Patty) and Don Wyant (Dottie), all of Vale, Joe Wyant (Scottie) of Hickory, Charlie Wyant of Newton, and John Wyant (Elaine) of Vale; four sisters, Ann Young of Hickory, Ida Williams and Texie Richardson (Jerry), all of Vale, and Sara Parrish of Fayetteville; sister-in-law, Janie Houff of Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 7, Vale, NC 28168.
