Geraldine "Jerri" Fullen Irby
( November 5, 1923 - March 8, 2016 )
Mrs. Irby, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.

Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Wyant officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Originally from Huntington, WV, she was the daughter of the late John Horace and Ora Watts Fullen. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Don Richard Irby.

Following the birth of her two children, she enjoyed the status of a “stay-at-home mom,” happily involved in their school and activities. After moving to Lincolnton with her family in 1960, she was an active member of FUMC where she was financial secretary for 19 years. She loved music and was a devoted member of the Chancel Choir, Wesley Sunday School class, Young at Heart, and Alter Guild. She was an avid reader and served as church librarian for many years. After retirement, she remained active as a volunteer in her church and community.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David Allen Irby, and wife Theresa of Lincolnton; daughter and son-in-law, Janet Kay Davis, and husband Charlie, of Newton; grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Chad, David Allen Irby, Jr., Duane Lee Evans, Ashley Burgin, and husband Michael; great-grandsons, Cameron Hilburn and Hayden Burgin; great-granddaughter Caya Hilburn; a sister, Martha Irby of South Point, OH; and a very special niece, Myra Taylor, and husband Gary, of South Point, OH.
