Sylvia Martin Harwood

Sylvia Martin Harwood, age 70, of 7210 Flay Road in Cherryville, died on Sunday, February 28, 2016.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at McKendree United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:15 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Harwood was born June 19, 1945, in Catawba County, to the late Walter Furman and Josephine Jones Martin. She worked as a hairdresser.
She is survived by her husband, Gariot H. Harwood, Jr. of the home; two daughters, Tina Fletcher, and husband Jeff, of Crouse, and Wendy Smith of Lincolnton; a son, Shawn Smith of Gastonia; a sister, Mary Spake of Cherryville; three brothers, Walter Martin, Jr., and wife Judy, of Lincolnton, Bill Martin of Blacksburg, SC, and Tony Martin, and wife Diane, of Mt. Holly; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a stepdaughter, Shelly Harwood.
