Jacqueline Hoffman Ballard
( October 27, 1932 - February 15, 2016 )
Jacqueline Hoffman Ballard, age 83, of Springfield Drive in Lincolnton, died Monday, February 15, 2016, at her home.
Jacqueline was born October 27, 1932, in Lincoln County. She was the daughter of the late Henry Mosteller and Cora Inez Boyle Mosteller. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Hoffman Gunter; grandson Chad Henry Hoffman; and siblings Flossie Inez Smith, Howard Henry “Pete” Mosteller, and Elizabeth M. Lineberger. Jacqueline married Brady Jonas Hoffman, Jr. and raised eight children. After they settled down in their home community of Long Shoals where she was a wonderful mother, wife, gardener, and cook known especially for her chicken and dumplings, Mr. Hoffman became ill and Jacqueline and her children cared for him at home until his death in 2001. Jackie met David Ballard about a year later after his wife had passed away. They were married in 2004. They took advantage of another chance at happiness and lived a wonderful 12 years together. Their love and care for one another was special.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016, at Long Shoals Wesleyan where she was a member. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Survivors are husband, David Ballard of the home; sons, Buddy Hoffman, and wife Kimberly, of Lincolnton, Rodney Hoffman, and wife Cindy, of Maiden, Bobby Hoffman, and wife Ann, of Conway, SC; daughters, Lynette H. Friday, and husband Jeff, Karen Hoffman, Denise H. Cooper, and husband Eddie all of Lincolnton and Shelley H. Rader, and husband Duane, of Dayton, TN; stepson, Doug Ballard, and wife Debi, of Lincolnton; brothers, Richard Mosteller, Miller Mosteller, Benny Mosteller, Jerry Mosteller; sisters, Ibera M. Setzer, Mary Frances “Myrt” Kistler, and Nancy Beaver; twenty-two grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Long Shoals Wesleyan Church Missions, 3032 Wesleyan Church Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
