George Elwyn Collins, Sr. passed away at Courtland Terrace in Gastonia on Sunday, January 17, 2016, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. His spirit now released from his worn out body and entered into Heaven to be with his Savior. George lived in Lincolnton for the past 15 years, also residing in Edgefield, Sumter, Jonesville, and Spartanburg, SC, Gastonia, NC, and Milledgeville, GA. He retired from the textile industry, the US Army, and was a Mason and former Grand Master of Prudence Lodge #139 in Jonesville. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. We are comforted to know that G-daddy, our hero and our superman, has reunited with his family in Heaven. His pain now gone forever, his body stealth as a young man, his memory sharp as a tack, and he once again has the eyes of an eagle.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00  p.m. on Sunday, January 24, 2016, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at Warlick Funeral Home.

George was born in Greenwood, SC, on October 5, 1929, son of the late Lake and Janie Goff Collins. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Chapman Collins, son Joe Collins, sister Wenetque Williams, and brothers Howard, John, and Robert Collins.
