Ruth Opal Painter

Ruth Opal Painter, age 89, of 2197 Buffalo Shoals Road in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, November 19, 2015.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Calloway and Rev. Bud Painter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Painter was born December 29, 1925, in Avery County, to the late John Nelson and Eldie Jane Sluder Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Giles Painter, her first husband William James Lane, daughters Billie Lane Fredell and Bobbie Sue Painter Richards, and a brother Ray Taylor. She retired from J.P. Stevens after 24 years of service.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Lane of Lincolnton and Jerry Lane of Waxhaw; one daughter, Debbie Poovey of Lincolnton; one brother, A.J. Taylor of Kannapolis; four sisters, Lois Vance, Zennie Mae McKenney, and Wanda Beal, all of Newland, and Mary Helen McCanles of Burnsville; six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
