Rev. Dr. James Edward Maddox
( September 9, 1945 - October 14, 2015 )

Rev. Dr. James Edward Maddox, age 70, of 2290 Northview Harbor Drive in Sherrills Ford, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.

His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at Denver United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Rev. Maddox was born September 9, 1945, in Marshall, Missouri, to the late James Wesley and Joan Dawson Maddox. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Edward Saunders Maddox. He was a United Methodist Minister having received his Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Ministry from Drew Theological Seminary. He served churches in the West Halifax United Methodist Charge, including Eden UMC, Central Cross UMC, and Union UMC; Tranquility UMC in Tranquility, NJ, Whitehouse UMC in Whitehouse, NJ, and Millbrook UMC IN Randolph NJ; Midway United Methodist Circuit, including Midway UMC, Bethany UMC, and Glencoe UMC; Mt.Olivet UMC in Arcadia, NC; Covenant UMC in Gastonia, NC; Asbury UMC in Lincolnton, NC; Hills Chapel UMC in Stanley, NC;  Rehobeth UMC in Terrell, NC and Boger City UMC in Lincolnton. NC.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Faulkner Maddox of the home; two sons, Gregory Scott Maddox of Mooresville and James Michael Maddox of Stanley; two granddaughters, Emma Kathryn Maddox and Ashley Michelle Maddox; and one grandson, Coleman Benedict Maddox.

Memorials may be made to a Methodist church of one’s choice, or to Catawba Regional Hospice, Sherrills Ford Unit, 7473 Sherrills Ford Road, Sherrills Ford, NC 28673.
