Hazelene Helms Lawing

Hazelene Helms Lawing, age 77, of 236 Lawing Street in Lincolnton, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2015, at Boger City Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Bigham officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:45 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Lawing was born April 19, 1938, in Lincoln County, to the late Carl and Bessie Long Helms. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Daphine Helms Featherstone and Jennie Mae Helms Jones. Prior to retirement, she worked as a waitress at Ramseur’s Café.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Lawing of the home; two daughters, Darlean Reep and husband Charles of Lincolnton and Billie Lawing of Columbia, SC; one grandson, Jacob Lester; one brother, Harold Reeves Helms of Lincolnton; one sister, Dorothy Lewis of Conover; and beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Boger City Baptist Church Building Fund, 2201 E. Main Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
