Fred Leroy Speagle
( April 1, 1929 - August 6, 2015 )
Mr. Fred Leroy Speagle, age 86, of 3287 June Bug Road in Vale, died on Thursday, August 6, 2015.

His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2015, at Daniels Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full Air Force graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Speagle was born April 1, 1929, in Catawba County, to the late Samuel Ruffin and Essie Ann Hafner Speagle. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by siblings Ervin Speagle, Virginia S. Parker, Lucille S. Scronce, Percy L. Speagle, and R.A. Speagle. He served, and retired from, the United States Air Force after 22 years, 4 months, and 5 days of service to his country. He served during both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. After returning home, he worked as a truck driver.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Pansy Scronce Speagle of the home; two sisters, Charlotte S. Royal of Greensboro and Faye S. Hoke of Newton; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
