Dr. Robert Linville Hinkle, age 70, of Anderson Lane in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, July 3, 2015.

Dr. Hinkle was born January 16, 1945, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Ward L. and Barbara Moffat Hinkle. He served as a United States Navy physician during the Vietnam War and then later in private practice.
He is survived by his wife, Patrice C. Hinkle of the home; four sons, John Hinkle of Cherryville, James Hinkle, Robert Hinkle, and Patrick Hinkle, all of Lincolnton; a daughter, Barbara Hinkle of Gastonia; a brother, William Hinkle of Marvin, NC; a sister, Laura Hinkle Edwards of Cornelius; and five grandchildren, Kara and Lily Hinkle, Richard, Rachel, and Ryan Morales.
