Betty Jane Canipe Jackson

Betty Jane Canipe Jackson, age 86, of Kingston Residency of Hickory, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015, at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church. Rev. Travis Allshouse, Rev. Laura “Willis” Greene, and Rev. Harry Andrews will officiate. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
Mrs. Jackson was born November 15, 1928, in Lincoln County, to the late Marcillus John Anderson Canipe and Mary Alma Houser Canipe. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Jackson. She worked as Vocational Director for Lincoln County Schools, and during her leadership the School of Technology was built. She held State Presidency for the Pilot Club of Lincolnton, was American Cancer Society President and during her Presidency she started Lincoln County Relay for Life.
She is survived by a daughter, Billye Rae Jackson Roland and husband Brent of Vale; a brother, Gene Matthew Canipe of Vale; two grandchildren, Helen “BeBe” Roland and Betsy Jane Roland, both of Lincolnton; and one great-granddaughter, Arizona Rae Roland of Lincolnton.
