Joe Ben "Bennie" Helms

Mr. Joe Ben “Bennie” Helms, age 81, of 4986 Sweetbubby Lane in Maiden, died on Tuesday, March 17, 2015.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Bost and Rev. Edward Reese officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Helms was born August 19, 1933, to the late Ernest Lee and Velma Wright Helms. He worked as a lawnmower mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Katie McConnell Helms of the home; three sons, Richard Helms of Crouse, Timothy J. Helms of Newton, and Joel W. Helms of Lincolnton; four daughters, Penny E. Hedrick of Denver, Sandra Annis Combs of Denver, Barbara Warren of Statesville, and Judy L. Reese of Denver; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice – Sherrills Ford Unit, 7473 Sherrills Ford Road, Sherrills Ford, NC 28673.
