Wilma Poovey Summey
( February 21, 1918 - February 8, 2015 )

Mrs. Wilma Poovey Summey, age 96 of the Brian Center and formerly of Putnam Street in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, February 8, 2015.

Her funeral service will be 12:30p.m. Tuesday, February 10, at Boger City Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 11:00a.m. until 12:15p.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Summey was born February 21, 1918 in Lincoln County to the late William M. and Verna Abernethy Poovey.  She was preceded in death by her husband Furman Lemuel Summey, Sr.; daughter, Brenda Summey Riggins; granddaughter, Donna Plyler; and two brothers, John Poovey and Andrul Poovey.  Mrs. Summey was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She retired from Boger & Crawford Mill.  She was a lifetime member of Boger City Baptist Church.  She loved her church, Sunday School class, and singing in the Senior Saints Choir.  She was loved by many at the Brian Center in Lincolnton and was known for her smile and her singing. 

She is survived by:  one son, Furman L. Summey, Jr. and wife Donata of Lincolnton; two daughters, Jane Summey Hearn and husband Bill of Summerville, S.C., and Phyllis Summey Turner and husband Jeff of Lincolnton, N. C.; brother, Jim Poovey of Lincolnton, N.C.; sisters Hazal Poovey Warren of Lincolnton, N.C. and Betty Poovey Glasson of Fort Myers, FL.; grandchildren, Bill Hearn, Jr., David Hearn, Tim Hearn, Marty Knight, Lori Ellis, Lauren Summey Smith, Brad Boyles, Chad Boyles, Kim Turner Seel, Amanda Turner Devine, and Michelle Turner Sutton; 20 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. 

The family wants to especially thank all those who have prayed for Mrs. Summey and all those who have loved and cared for her at the Brian Center.
