Kenneth Counts
( October 30, 1954 - December 14, 2014 )

Kenneth Clifford Counts, 60, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  Ken was born October 30, 1954 in Munich, Germany.  Ken was the son of Charles Rook Counts, a career Army Officer, and Mary Penick Counts.

Ken was a graduate of the University of South Carolina.  Upon graduation Ken worked for the SC Department of Natural Resources paddling and mapping boat access to SC Rivers.  Ken was an avid sailor, boat builder, movie set construction foreman, and an expert craftsman in woodworking. In his early years he worked as a guide on the Nantahala, the Ocoee, and the Chattooga Rivers.  Ken also led sailing charters in the Caribbean.   Later in life he worked as a Woodworking Instructor for SCAD in Savannah, GA. 

Ken leaves behind his beloved wife, Rose Keever, of Wilmington Island, Georgia, two brothers Charles (Harriett) and Tom Counts and his sister Sally Counts all of Newberry County, SC.

A memorial service will be held at St. Francis of the Islands Episcopal Church, 580 Walthour Road, Wilmington Island, Savannah, GA on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at one o’clock.  A visitation will be held immediately following the service.  Committal service will be held at  First Christian Church Cemetery, Lincolnton, NC on Friday, December 19, 2014 at two o’clock.

Memorials may be made to Arbor Day Foundation or Alzheimer’s Association.
