Obituaries

Rev. Donald Lagary Fisher, age 91, of Iron Station, NC died Saturday, November 22, 2014.

His funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Lincolnton with Rev. Keys Pendleton, Rev. Hubert Clinard, Rev. Jackie Hovis Taylor, and Rev. Anita Sain leading the service. His body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 at Warlick Funeral Home. 

Rev. Fisher was born on October 29, 1923 and was the son of the late Joel and Cora Hendricks Fisher. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Cloninger Fisher; grandson, Chris Dockins;  three brothers, Paul Fisher, Joel Fisher, Oscar Fisher; four sisters, Lillie Martin, Elizabeth Whitener, Mary Goodson and Violet Cash.  He was an Army Veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II.  Rev. Fisher retired from the ministry in 2001 after serving 38 years. He served the following United Methodist Churches:  Martin St. in Shelby, Vale Charge in Lincoln County, Concord-Mary’s Grove in Cleveland County, West Forsyth Charge and Mt. Pleasant-Tabernacle in Forsyth County, Level Cross Charge in Surry County, First UMC Lawndale-Double Shoals in Cleveland County, Asbury in Lincoln County, Fair View in Mt. Mourne, Mt. Pleasant in Cabarrus County, and Thrift UMC in Charlotte.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Goodson Fisher of the home; son, David Fisher and wife, Billie of Lincolnton; three daughters, Barbara Anne Dockins of Salisbury, Becky Pendleton and husband, Keys of Lawndale, Joy Andrews and husband, Harry of  Monroe; sister, Julia Whitener of Topeka, KS; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
