Obituaries

Vernell Weathers Long, age 77, of Iron Station, died on Tuesday, November 18, 2014.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014, at Sharon Baptist Church with Rev. Eli Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:15 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Long was born December 3, 1936. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Boyce Long. She worked in textiles.

She is survived by a son, Max Long and wife Anna; a brother, Boyce Weathers, Sr.; sister-in-law, Brenda Weathers; two grandchildren, Jason Long and wife Megan, and Amanda Hope Long; and three great-grandchildren, Audrey Long, Jackson Long, and Carson Owenby.
