Grady "Jud" McNeely McConnell
( May 22, 1934 - October 16, 2014 )

Mr. Grady “Jud” McNeely McConnell, died peacefully on October 16th at Levine-Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

 

Grady is survived by his wife, Alice “Shortie” McConnell; daughter, Jeanene McConnell of Lincolnton; daughter-in-law, Frankie McConnell of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Rachel Tallent of Lincolnton, Heather & Tim Andrus, Joshua and Elke Weaver of Rock Hill, SC; four great-grandchildren, Braden McConnell Andrus, Loflin Andrus, Karly Weaver, and Ivy Muchka; siblings, Laura Grice and Louis McConnell (Barbara).

 

He was preceded in death by his son, Jamie Kent McConnell; great-granddaughter, Addison Kent Andrus; his parents, Ezelle McConnell and Mattie McAllister McConnell; and sister, Frances McConnell.

 

Grady was born May 22, 1934, in Lincolnton, NC. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a former co-owner of Jud’s Pantry and later retired from Excel, Inc. He was an avid golfer and gardener.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2014, at Hollybrook Cemetery with Rev. Veronica Cannon officiating.
